Did Doris Day ever seriously consider doing a Broadway show, at least as far as reported in the press?

She did start as a big band singer, so she had experience performing live in front of an audience. Of course, she was a hugely successful movie star, recording artist and later tv star, all of which pay more than the stage. But I'm wondering if she was ever really tempted by a role. Of course, she would have made a wonderful Nellie in the film of "South Pacific" (yes, Mitzi Gaynor certainly was very good), and Doris shined opposite John Raitt in the movie version of "The Pajama Game".
