I seem to recall eating that Day suffered from stage fright and so eventually curtailed her big band career and performed solely in movies. I've often been curious as to how her voice would sound and project in person. Some of her work in "Pajama Game" and "Love Me or Leave Me" suggest she had a strong belt voice. But it's hard to know for certain since sound recording can augment a voice.
