I've read a number of biographies on Ms. Day as well as her own book, and I have never seen or heard mention of a Broadway show. She was always very clear that she didn't particularly like performing live and once her big band days were over, she rarely if ever did it. I was at a benefit in Carmel in 1992 where Day appeared and Les Brown's band (led by Les Brown, Jr) performed; they asked Day several times to step up and sing "Sentimental Journey" and she very clearly refused to do it. She was a great film actress but lacked actual acting training, so that, coupled with her desire to not perform live, pretty much says she would say no even if offered. And yes, I have often dreamed of her as Sally! With Ann-Margret as my perfect movie Phyllis opposite her.
