Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, question...

The question is, WHY?
Full disclosure, IMHO, movie franchises are the equivalent of fast food. I never saw the show so I was a clean slate. I didn't care for it. The strength of the film version of Wickard are the leads, who are admittedly charming. I feel Cynthia Erivo is a current major talent in the world, nonetheless Oscar worthy is questionable, (but I've seen none of the other movies). Besides the paper thin story, forgettable score and the endless running time, was Mr. Goldblum the director's first choice? I can name off 4 movie actors that would've been better. I've nothing personally against him, but as the Wizard he has as much magic as someone on the other end of the line when you're calling customer service. Not that there's anything wrong with people who work customer service, I think you get my point.
