It's interesting how we all interpret things differently. I didn't get any of that. Other than he definitely lacked magic, he spoke in a monotone that compared to the overproduction of the movie with it's outrageous in your face style, was jarring. I thought Frank Morgan brought out the desperation in someone who though they lacked actual power, tried to make up for it by "faking it until you make it". Jeff Goldblum was being himself I suppose, I just didn't buy it. But again, I ask, were there other actors up for the role? I'd be interested to know the evolution of casting, which is usually the last thing we ever learn about a movie, because who wants to be known as second choice, I understand that. | |
