My dream casting was J.K Simmons as the Wizard and Emma Thompson as Morrible. Yeoh ended up acquitting herself pretty well with a quiet menace that's different from the scenery-chewing the stage version usually gets, but her take works in the close-up medium of film. Goldblum was flat for me as well; it's true the Wizard has no real power, but he does have enormous charisma in its place. Goldblum's take was missing that.
