| I was looking at the highest grossing films last year and Wicked is number 6 with $685m. A great number, but the surprising thing is that the foreign gross is at 33% of the total gross compared to the rest of the top ten at 50-70% foreign receipts. Beetlejuice 2 at number is the next entry at 33%. I wonder if the music aspect doesn’t translate well compared to dialog. I think wicked stage musical has done well in other countries but I don’t have stats or know if those productions are translated to local audience language or remain in English. |
