| I have not seen the current revival yet. I will be seeing it at one of the last previews before the official Opening. So I will not comment on any aspect of the production until I see it. However, I have read many postings both here and on the Broadway World Chat Board. What strikes me is that almost every post that mentions former "Madame Roses" talk about Bernadette Peters, or Patti LuPone or Tyne Daly or Ethel Merman. Is everyone forgetting about Angela Lansbury? Are the posters just too young to have seen or know about her absolutely terrific portrayal? It was something to behold... (and she wasn't a "belter" in the same category as Merman or LuPone. She devised her own characterization and it was magnificent.) | |
