His birthday was yesterday, but best wishes to the terrific lyricist who, once upon a time, also wrote ''All American,'' ''Golden Boy,'' ''It's a Bird, It's a Plane ... It's Superman'' and ''Applause.'' He and Charles Strouse also penned ''Those Were the Days'' for TV's ''All in the Family.'' Applause, applause, indeed!
