I think I would say more the love child of Nathan and a more sophisticated (in writing style and point of view) Winchell or a male Dorothy Kilgallen. Or maybe a more sophisticated Earl Wilson. Actually, I don't think I know of a theatre columnist quite like Addison DeWitt. I suppose he was in some ways most like Alexander Woollcott, except that Woollcott achieved his greatest fame and influence on the radio. I don't think he ever had a daily column in a newspaper. But Addison does seem at least a bit like Woollcott, although focused more exclusively on theatre than Woollcott was when he was most famous.
