Absolutely. Gussie makes no sense in this version of the show. She definitely had a spine originally. Now it's all over the place. And the Gussie character in the original Kaufman-Hart play had a spine. But the ways in which they combined them when they revised the show make zero sense. Some of the changes make no sense even by themselves, without regard to who she is in other parts of the show.
