Yes, Sondheim had a strong association with Pegasus. Thank you for bringing up this production.

I just looked up Christiansen's review of the Pegasus Merrily, which I had read before when I was adding info on the production to ovrtur.com. It was a generally favorable review, praising the score more than the book. He seemed to think act one worked better than act two, which is odd since act two was from the beginning almost universally felt to work better. Still, a generally favorable review that probably sent some folks to see the production.
