The individual moments are not the issue. Gussie seems like two or three people rolled into one, to suit the needs of whatever scene we are in. As the show now stands, the character has no spine. It's possible that she never did, but this seems to me more like a casualty of the rewritten book. Everyone I know who has seen the show has commented on this. This in no way reflects on the quality of Krystle Joy Brown's performance. I admire how well she runs with it all.
