| Excellent as an actor... but only excellent for this if he can really sing. Valetin is a notable singing role that requires a strong and very good singer... not a "gets by" or "talks and whispers in tune" singer. The only singing I'm aware from him is in the animated movie The Book of Life and... let's say, there's nothing to make me confident he can pull this role off vocally. I hope he's capable of much more than was required of him in Book of Life. And that very well be! But I'm really very tired of movie musicals casting actors who can't ring the roles. I'd love to go back to the days when they dubbed singing voices. The score deserves to be sung properly, and the film requires great actors who are also bankable movie stars. If they can't find all 3 together then for gods sake just dub the movie stars! |
