Here's my question... why do the damn musical if you aren't gonna do the musical?!

If the "way in" to the musical numbers is through the eyes of Molina, then there's no reason we can't see Valentin, the hearthrob revolution he has a crush on and thinks about a lot, put into the fantasy context of being in one of the movies in Molina's mind, even in actually Aurora movies. "The Day After That" can easily even fit in the same movie as her Russian scene/song.

I see no reason why it needs to be done this way. But a thoughtful creative writer and director could make a movie with the entire score. It's an incredibly cinematic musical as is.

I'm thrilled it's really actually happening too, because it's one of the best musicals out there period, but that's why I'm concerned that they are either cutting songs the musical needs and wants, and not actually making a movie of the musical, or they are going to severely under-serve the score with actors who can't actually sing.
