Is there any recourse for the understudy, assuming she wants to go on in the part? Of course it is plausible that Ms. Halstead hasn't had rehearsal enough yet to be ready. But if she is ready and raring to go, she might be outraged. I would be.

Other thoughts:

The cost of insurance for a two hander, with a combined star age past the sesquicentennial, has to be very high.

Some people have posted that Marsha Mason isn't a name that would sell tickets in 2024. While that is probably true in a broad sense, among the small segment of the population that Mia Farrow still sells to, she probably is still a name.

Will Halstead's son now be on the voicemail?
