You may be intentionally seeking general memories, but otherwise this is really hard to answer. Strange outlier cases aside, shows keep running when their weekly grosses exceed their weekly running costs. It's not really about the percentage, especially since house sizes and ticket prices vary. The caveat is the stop clause, where the theatre owner can give notice to the show if they dip under a certain gross for a specified number of weeks, or whatever explicit condition is in the contract.

I think the broader observation you are getting it as that shows cost less back then, so they could run longer on what would seem to be lower numbers, if you are looking at percentage. But I don't want to put words into your mouth!
