Stop clauses are rarely "ënforced" because most producers would rather pack up when the owner wants the theatre back lest they suffer the consequeneces (i.e., not getting good theatres offered to them in the future or, worse yet, not getting a theatre at all). Note that owners don't kick shows out if they don't have some higher and better use for the space. That is why you and I could have an empty house for July and August to finally stage our 2 person improvised rap extravaganza-tragedy.

I have heard a number of times that the Weisslers have a deal for the Ambassador that does not include a stop clause. I believe it because of (a) the relationship, (b) the fact that the theatre has had a bad track record and is a weird and difficult one, and (c) at the time, the Shuberts wanted Chicago out of the Shubert so the Bernadette Gypsy could have it.
