| I'm not sure what your race or maleness has to do with it, it's not a white person thing, nor is it a male thing, to favor having two categories and 1 winner per acting award category, you'll find women and non-white people in that camp, just as you'll find white dudes in favor of non-gendered categories. And of course the discussion is not just do we do it the Tonys way or the Drama Desk way ... there are other awards who have switched to non-gendered acting awards, and instead of keeping the same number of winners (so the top 2 actors in each category get the award), they cut the number of winners in half (and the number of nominees by 1/3). I can happily get on board with the former, but not the latter. |
