The whole thing was a dismal experience. Liv Ullman was still lovely at that point and mostly presented herself with charm. The songs, such as they were, were croaked instead of sung. But, I guess, at the time, if it worked for Rex Harrison why not Liv Ullman.

I remember liking the set. The songs were generic Richard Rodgers. He just kept on going because he couldn't help himself, unlike Irving Berlin who decided at one point to close up shop.

Considering that Rogers was one of the artists who invented integrated song and book in musicals, this seemed to stop and start with the songs shoehorned in uncomfortably. The book writer's fault?

Rogers (and Hammerstein) produced the original stage production of I Remember Mama. Sometimes it's not wise to revisit past successes.

Most of the cast was never heard from again.
