I only know of the musical Tovarich from the performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, which I watched on TV when I was 14 years old, and from its OBC recording, which I did enjoy. It had a respectable run (264 perfs, a little over 7 months) for its time, but was forced to move twice to other theaters. It probably closed because Leigh dropped out due to health issues, eventually being replaced by Eva Gabor.

The show is most likely too forgotten for Encores, which generally hasn't featured shows by little known composers like Lee Pockriss. Musicals Tonight! did a revival of it in 2017, but I wasn't able to make a trip to New York to see it. Perhaps Spotlight J2 would consider it for a future production. That theatre group is doing such rarely staged shows Smile; Zorba; and Drat! The Cat! this spring.
