| When SUNSET BLVD opened on Broadway, Karen Mason was hire as the standby to all the Norma Desmonds, Glen Close, Betty Buckley and Elaine Paige during most of the run of the show. Of course the audiences were disappointed that the leading lady was replaced by the standby. luckily the first 11 o'clock song, appeared very early in Act I "WIth One Look" she had them in the palm of their hands and they gave her a standing ovation and knew they were in for a great performance. She was so good that she would replace them during their various vacations. She initially covered in Los Angeles and when they closed and opened on Broadway she came with them. | |
