Do you know if it was a question of funding? (Which would seem mystifying to me.) It would have been a beautiful companion to Alan Bennett's Bed Among the Lentils which, for me, is her greatest performance (tied closely with her A in Three Tall Women onstage; admittedly I wasn't able to start seeing her onstage until 1990.)
I am glad I made the journey across the waters to see her. If there was ever a theatrical event in 2019, that was it. |
