Sorry, I don't know what "post electrocution gate" means. I understand that WTF operated on a model that proved unsustainable. I'm not suggesting that it return to that model. But other theatres are surviving. Struggling, yes. But surviving. I would think that there are actors and writers for whom WTF means something and that if there was someone rallying the troops they could assemble a company of, say, 10-20 actors of renown who could commit to doing two shows each in a four-play rep season for three or four months. Two classics and two new scripts. It would be a noble buy-in to a prestige-filled institution and I expect it could create a lot of buzz and encourage theatre lovers from all over the North East to come. Simple productions values but great writing and acting. You could come for a weekend and see all four shows and only worry about two nights' accommodation. |
