Daniel Radcliffe may be one of the most powerful people in the theatre business right now, rivaling Hugh Jackman. This MERRILY is yet another theatrical project that happened simply because HE wanted to do it. If it transfers back to London, tours, or has any further life beyond Broadway, it will be on his whim. I'm sure Richard Linklater is kicking himself that he didn't wait just a little bit longer to start filming on his movie.

I'm so glad that wielding such power hasn't seemed to turn him into an asshole. He comes across as everyone's favorite guy. And that he keeps coming back to the theatre and keeps choosing interesting projects is just a bonus. His is the career that would be the envy of anyone...he has more money than God, doesn't have to work, and uses that privilege to do exactly what HE wants to do.
