It would be easy for a big star, like Radcliffe, to just wave and jump into his car, but he takes the time to sign, chat and take photos with everyone.

I digress away from Radcliffe for a moment, but you reminded me of when I met John Cullum after a performance of Urinetown. He was halfway into his car when I yelled "Mr. Cullum" and he actually got back out of the car to say hello, shake my hand, and sign my program. He was so wonderfully affable. I was such a damn fanboy, saying I had been a fan of his for years, citing On The 20th Century and the film of 1776 in particular. With a wistful look, he said to me "oh, those were so long ago." We smiled, said goodnight, and he got into the car. It wasn't much of a deep conversation but I feel we had connected as people for a moment. Not all performers can do that or even want to do that (and that's ok). But those that can and do, leave us with something unique and special beyond their onstage expertise.
