I'm thrilled Radcliffe won his Tony. What I admire about him is his love and dedication to theater. When he did ''How to Succeed,'' he never missed a show throughout its run of 30 previews and 315 regular performances. At ''Merrily,'' if anyone doubted his draw: The week during his few scheduled days-off in late May-early June, the box office grosses dropped over $400,000. Audiences especially love him in musicals, but he doesn't seem to have the same draw in plays. I imagine he did well in ''Equus,'' with his teased nudity, but his stints in ''The Cripple of Inishmaan'' and ''The Lifespan of a Fact'' weren't exactly hits.

Radcliffe is also a mensch at the stage door. At ''Merrily,'' they set up two barricades: one for folks who actually saw the show that evening and can prove it with their tickets. And one for onlookers and what I call ''vultures'' who bring merchandise/photos for him to sign, so they can hawk it on eBay.

It would be easy for a big star, like Radcliffe, to just wave and jump into his car, but he takes the time to sign, chat and take photos with everyohe.
