| I saw the tour in Boston a few months ago, with primarily the same cast. I thought Coleman sounded strong throughout. In fact, I thought it was a vocally strong cast all around. I did have some quibbles with how the gender-bending idea was handled (or not adequately handled), and I was rather disgusted by the way Andy (i.e. April) was played as certifiably stupid (was that really necessary?). I can't say I would want to see the show done with a female Bobbie again, but IMO it was an interesting experiment that sometimes worked. |
