The beautiful irony of "Marry Me A Little" is that Bobby is asking for a compromised kind of marriage - when in reality the show keeps trying to tell him that marriage is itself a compromise.

When the song was first added back to the show, I was a little dubious - but then I realized how well it actually fit in that spot after the Amy scene. But no, it just doesn't work at all in this revisal. When I saw this show in Boston a few months ago, I realized how much the song really relies on what happens in that scene, and how Bobby doesn't listen to what Amy tries to tell him. But in this version, the scene itself doesn't work, so the song has no connection to anything.
