| I loved Gwen Verdon, saw her in Charity twice and watched videos of I think all her other performances. But I suggest being careful to title her as Broadway's Greatest Female Dancing Star. Chita Rivera could also be up there along with many others whom I will mention. Plus dancers have been required to perform much more difficult and physically demanding steps in the past 20 years. For example, look at the incredible extensions that the wonderful Ann Reiking showed us, just not capable by anyone else. And others to share that title would be Bebe Neuwirth, Karen Ziemba, Liza, Donna, Rachelle Rak, and so many many others. Each brought us their invidivual nuances, physical stylings, personality, etc. To single out one over all the others just isn't logical. Not to mention fair. | |
