| But if you're going to be that fussy in your textual originalism, you should know that she's "Madam" Rose, not "Madame." :) Sorry, not quite. This is directly from the production script. (The bolding of the text is mine, of course.) ROSE You know, I had a dream last night. (LOUISE laughs) It was a big poster of a mother and daughter -- like the cover of that ladies’ magazine. LOUISE Yes, Mother? ROSE (Stops moving) Only it was you and me, wearing exactly the same gown. It was an ad for Minsky – and the headline said: (She traces the name in the air) MADAME ROSE -- (LOUISE gives her a look; ROSE catches it and, moving her hand up to give LOUISE top billing, says:) ROSE (Cont’d) And HER DAUGHTER, GYPSY! (She is also referred to as Madame Rose, with the E, a few other times as well.) |
