| Mimi in RENT was originally played by an actress of Panamanian descent and had since been played by non-Panamanian actresses (for example Vanessa Hudgens at the Hollywood Bowl) Connie in A Chorus Line was originated by an actress of Chinese and Indian descent, and played in the most recent Broadway revival by an actress of Japanese descent. I wonder who played Fred in the 1990s tour of Kiss Me Kate. I didn't know about the "Jesus was Asian" line - guess they cut that one for this production. |
