Well, Marsha Mason’s going on stage with book in hand. So it’s hard to argue she’s more prepared than the understudy, whose assignment this was.

Obviously Mason is a far bigger name than Carol Halstead. That goes without saying. I’m sure they’ll continue to use Halstead for single performances when needed, but since Mia Farrow will be out for at least a little while, they clearly wanted to find someone that might create some impetus for people not to return tickets and stay for the show. Who knows, maybe she’ll sell some tickets. Will be interesting to see how this plays out….
