40 Carats is watchable even with a miscast Liv Ullmann. However, if Audrey Hepburn had starred and William Wyler had directed, the film would most certainly have been much better and might have even been a box office success.

I tried watching The Impossible Years once (probably on cable TV) but couldn't take it after about 15 minutes. It's a god awful movie, painfully unfunny. My guess is that the combination of Niven, Ozzie Nelson, Lola Albright, Chad Everett and the title itself drew audiences to see it.
