| They are former schoolmates, although Keith initially fails to recognize Ryan. They both eventually confess that their lives are plagued with angst and sadness. Ryan is gay and Keith presumably straight, but both are lonely. Keith seems to be looking to have some sort of physical relationship with Ryan. They are drawn together despite their very significant differences. BTW I also saw the Signature Theatre production in New York in 2022. This Chicago staging is just as good IMO. |
