Thanks. I don't even think Rose sings "so much" actually. Merman's version of her songs is just so overwhelming and strong on the OCR, I think, that she seems to be in more songs than she actually is. In Act 1, it's "Some People" (which ideally has a lot of gumption, energy and in the Merman mode, power), followed by "Small World" (very lyrical -- can be be sung sweetly a la Johnny Mathis), then "Mr. Goldstone" which certainly could use of lot of energy and Merman used a lot of voice, but a frenzied staging can help for less powerful voices. Then "You'll Never Get Away from Me" (again is pretty lyrical and generally on the engaging side of things). Of course, "Everything's Coming Up Roses" calls for a full belt, lots of energy and drive/power.

Act 2 is two songs for Rose -- "Together" an up-tempo trio in which Rose isn't doing all the singing, and basically it's a charm song divided amongst them. Then, of course, "Rose's Turn" which is like the ultimate in bringing up everything she's got in terms of voice, acting ability, showmanship, stage presence, chutzpah, oomph, and giving a bravura star performance.

Rose is in a lot of the dialogue scenes, of course, but she's off-stage during quite a few of the numbers. So, in a way, it's well-paced for the actress. One rarely heard of actresses doing less then 8 performances of it a week, although, as you say, Merman burst a blood vessel singing it. Perhaps she was thinking of what she had on her shopping list (something she admitted to in a video) instead of how she was using her voice in automatic mode! But it's probably on the order of 20-25 minutes of actual singing.
