I guess you're right when one thinks of things in terms of purely amount of singing terms vs. time on stage for a typical leading role. Maybe Streisand in "Funny Girl" sings longer over the performance -- certainly she sings most of the score, as would the leading lady of "Song and Dance" in Act 1. There are harder sings like Cunegonde in "Candide", but she doesn't sing quite so long all evening. Eva Peron and Che sing quite a bit in "Evita", especially since there's very little dialogue in rock operas. The Anthony Newley shows ("Roar of the Greasepaint" etc., "Stop the World" etc.) had him do quite a bit of singing, off-hand. On the other hand, Ezio Pinza had it in his contract he would sing no longer than 15 minutes per performance of "South Pacific" -- as an opera singer, not used to singing 8 performances a week, apparently he would tend to sing full out early in the week, and not have as much voice later in the week, sometimes leading to him cancelling and letting his understudy or standby go on.

Certainly in opera, there are some very long roles, the two longest soprano ones from what I recall were Susanna in "Marriage of Figaro" and Isolde in "Tristan und Isolde", though, of course, miles apart in terms of fach (vocal category)- light lyric/soubrette v. dramatic Wagnerian.
