| Yes, I meant the pacing on the OBC is too slow. It’s much slower than the Nathan Lane revival or the Jason Alexander version in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. I think the faster tempo increases the thrill of the rhymes as the words go from multi-syllable to single syllable in the excerpt I cited. I’ve never had trouble understanding the lyrics in any version. |
