| The pacing of both the video of the performances and cast recordings of the Lane and Alexander versions seem to be at the same fast tempo generally and in the lyrics I posted specifically. Or at least that’s how it sounds to me. I only just heard the Mostel recording and was shocked at how slow it seemed (and much less exciting). Maybe it was faster in the show since, as it has been noted above, that is something that happens in recordings. I’ve read, for example, that Leland Palmer was upset that the cast recording of Spread A Little Sunshine on the Pippin recording was slowed down. There is an audio recording of a live performance that indicates that this is the case. |
