Your math is way off. Don’t forget SS, unemployment, etc. About half the check is gone after taxes etc. Then you pay 20% in commissions, you’re left with $1500 from that weekly check. Also- they have to save for when the show closes. So they are barely scraping by. And are they all single and without a pet? $5000/week is terrible for these actors who work over 3 hours for each performance of a show they’ve turned into a hit with their performances. People may not know their names, but people are going to see “that cast” they’ve heard such good things about!
