I regret to tell you, but my math is perfect and unfortunately your posts betray a lack of knowledge that is near complete. I did not make up what I posted (I don't like being embarrassed) but I am lazy so I called a friend who makes a living running theatrical payroll in NYC. I gave him the same attributes I listed in my post, which were chosen to show the worst case scenario. So for instance, I had it run for a single person taking a standard deduction because that is more costly than a married person with dependents. SS, medicare and a number of other deductions (including the dues) were included. Unemployment, state and federal, are pretty minimal, but they are also paid by the employer, not the employee. For what you call commissions (I call them fees), I again used the worst case scenario, not 20% but 25%. Your guesses are wrong, by almost 100%, even based on my worst case version. What is most surprising is that you are so seemingly unaware that one does not need a quarter of million dollars to live here quite well. To suggest that is probably pretty offensive to most actors.

Let me offer a suggestion. If you are truly interested in this subject, take a few minutes to learn about it. You should not have trouble finding calculators or formulas on line for every line item in a payroll. Do you own math instead of guessing. The cast is great; the show is great. They deserve what they are getting. But please don't make stuff up. Someone sitting in mid-America whose dream is to be an actor in NYC may decide to give up their dream if they believe what you wrote.
