I got one wrong already

I got one wrong already. I put Jessica Lange rather than Sarah Paulson. I hadn't seen either show, and the buzz here seemed to be more about Lange being unmissable rather than about Paulson's performance. But I think Paulson is in the better-received show, which makes a difference.

I put Maleah Joi Moon down because I think the Tonys like to reward the newcomer in the big hit (like Myles Frost for MJ), but I wouldn't be surprised at all if O'Hara wins. I haven't seen the Notebook, and I'm surprised that Plunkett is so competitive, especially since she hardly sings, and it seems that people were thinking the role might be considered to be a Featured one. I would have thought the nomination was the reward for her, so to speak.

I found it very hard to predict this year, partially because so many races are so close, and partially because I am way behind on my theatergoing, which wasn't helped by having everything open so late. Of this year's new musicals that are currently open, the only ones I've seen are Hell's Kitchen and Illinoise. I think the Outsiders is going to win something, and I put it down for Book and Lighting, with Suffs for Score, and Hell's Kitchen for Best Musical, but it's hard to get a feel for things without seeing the shows. I chose most of the tech awards semi-randomly.

The Outsiders seems to be gaining a foothold among the young theatergoer, with a lot of talk about it on Reddit and long rush lines. That's a good sign for its future box office.
