For what it's worth, Lange won over Paulson at the Outer Critics, and they both won at Drama Desks. But Paulson took the top prize at the Drama League.
It also might've been more competitive if Lange hadn't already won a Tony in 2016 (for ''Long Day's Journey''). This would be Paulson's first Tony.
That said, I agree that it's been a very hard year to predict. I can't recall a recent Tonys where Best Musical still seemed so up in the air this late.
''Stereophonic'' and ''Merrily'' will have a terrific night winning multiple prizes, but it's hard to imagine any new musical winning more than a few.
Don't feel too bad about not seeing all the shows. I once scored my best predictions (24/26) & beat my N.Y. colleagues without seeing ANY of the shows. |
