I think they considered doing Bombshell as a Broadway show. One challenge is/was that the TV show didn't actually write that musical. They would have had to write the book to Bombshell, which to your post, would be totally not what the TV show was. Also the songs... The TV show is packed with songs that serve a function in the episode they are in, often commenting both on the behind the scenes action and the Bombshell plot. And it's just way too many showstoppers. Makes sense when each was the showstopping center of an episode of TV, but would not work as a cohesive and varied score to a stage musical.

That said, I DO also find it odd they created a basically new story instead of following the series more closely. I hope it's not another New York, New York...
