A new stage musical that began as a TV show seems to be in a no-win situation.
If you basically transfer Season 1 onstage, with minor changes, as ''Schmigadoon!'' reportedly does, in D.C., some people complain.
If you choose NOT to rehash the TV show, and basically come up with a new story, as ''Smash'' reportedly does, in NYC, some people complain.
I can't wait to see ''Schmigadoon!'' and ''Smash'' onstage, and only then will I judge how successful they are (to me). |
