Jennifer Simard & Christopher Sieber performed a one night only show as Pete ‘n’ Keely at Carnegie Hall’s Zenkel Theater. They were a total delight. The show itself is slight. The concept is that a once popular singing couple (a la Steve & Eydie), now divorced, reunite for a live television special in 1968. Backed by a three piece band - piano, bass, and drums - they sing up a storm and banter back and forth. Simard and Sieber have a natural rapport that works so well with the material. Funny, tuneful - lots of fun. And their voices are absolutely phenomenal. I think Simard can do no wrong. I would pay to see her read the phone book. Sieber is a total pro. And they’re great together. What a fun night. (And my first time in the lovely Zenkel Hall.) |
