Older white men always have dominated the ranks of the Academy's nearly 100-year-old history, so the winners and nominees reflect their tastes.

Only a decade ago (2014), the L.A. Times revealed Oscar voters were on average 63 years old; 76% of them were men, and 94% of them were white.

It's only in the wake of the OscarsSoWhite controversy that the Academy has made concerted efforts to include more women and people of color. Still ...

In 2002, Halle Berry became the 1st black woman to win Best Actress. Nearly a quarter-century later, she still remains the ONLY black Best Actress winner.
