What the heck about Mary Testa stood out -was she "Doing Number 17 - The Spread Eagle"? I mean, her role is so small for it to take precedence over discussions of the four leads, and there aren't even comments about the Nicely-Nicely, who all have some big numbers. This production got dreadful reviews, so I stayed away. The 1992 production was very good, but best production I saw was in London with Bob Hoskins and Julia McKenzie as Nathan and Adelaide tops in their roles, without the added shtick of Nathan Lane, based very much on Jackie Gleason, and Faith Prince, which obviously still worked.
