They'd probably have to do some rewriting of the Munoz subplot, and maybe rethink his song. Another caveat is the Angel City 4 - they have the hardest music to sing by far (it's outrageously difficult), so you need incredible vocal musicians of the Jacob Collier variety, but no producer is going to want to spend a lot of money on what essentially comes off as a 4-person ensemble. Finding a good barbershop quartet for The Music Man is a considerably easier thing, comparatively. Personally, I would only want to see a Broadway revival that had a full 21-piece orchestra re-creating the original phenomenal Billy Byers charts (which aren't quite what you get when you rent the materials, they were redesigned for tour). That's also, I think, a tall order for a show that's more of a niche piece rather than a general audience favorite. |
