It's been a while, but what is problematic about the Munoz character and his song? My recollection is that the character is out for Stone, his former partner on the police force, because of how shitty Latino cops get treated and how Stone basically got away with anything and everything. Now that Stone has been finally tossed out of the police and is a PI and is implicated in a murder, Munoz has it in for him and is gleeful about the opportunity to take revenge against a guy who was an asshole.
And, as much as CITY OF ANGELS needs some work (the original creators never did solve the ending), I'd hate for anyone to touch a word or a note of that song, which contains the delightful and perfect "I'm leading an ovation...at your asphyxiation," one of my favorite lyrics ever. |
